Walk Talybont-on-Usk to Brecon
| For other information about staying at Nythfa House see the page here. |
There are many walks possible by getting the bus from Talybont. In this case I did a nice walk along the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal.
Catch the 43 bus from the bus interchange (not the X43 which goes fast along the A40 and does not stop near Talybont).
The 43 bus only goes about every 2 hours so check the timetable. When I was there the but left the interchange at 09:04.

Get off the bus at Talybont.

This is the bus stop on the other side of the road for the other direction.

Go up the slope to the canal and turn right along the towpath:

Pencelli (could have got off the bus here for a shorter walk).

Cambrian Cruisers Marina:

Brynich Lock:

About 300m after the lock there is a path that slopes, to the left, down from the towpath to the riverbank. This gives an alternative route back to Brecon along the river bank:

The canal ends in Brecon at the Brecon Canal Basin, this is next to the Theatr Brycheiniog.

About This SiteHere is some information I have gathered together about getting to and walking from HF houses when leaving the car at home. On these pages I have also put some history about former HF houses I have visited. The information here is based on my visits to HF houses over the years. It may be out of date so don't rely on anything here without checking. If you find any errors why not let others know by putting a post on the HF Holiday Fans ( unofficial) Facebook forum. I will try to quote such posts here so they don't get lost. This is information I have discovered over the years which would have been useful to know before. Unfortunately the travel information on the HF website, for getting to houses by public transport, is poor. I think it would be better if the information on this page were on the HF website. |
